HISTORIC PROVENANCE
The Column Veneto draws inspiration from a northern Italian column (ca. 1400) carved from red limestone (Broccato Rosso di Verona). The column, now in The Met’s medieval art collection, was probably made in Veneto. This reproduction piece, which measures 220 cm. in height, has been recreated in hand-carved wood, which perfectly shows its natural variations in patina and color.
